Not that I like cruisers all that much, but considering what usually shows up in my sub-$750 CL search for a bike or scooter this thing seems like a dream. A title? Clean? Not Chinese crap? No list of needed “simple” repairs? There may be issues that aren’t listed, but so far this seems like the best deal I’ve seen in a long time. But right now I’m just trying to keep the electricity on and a roof over my head, so toys  like this will have to wait...

I’ve ridden a Shadow. I was not impressed. Perhaps cruisers really aren’t my thing either.

I just want something cheap and simple for my short commute. A scooter or moped would actually be OK, but the ones listed are usually missing documents,  cheap Chinese crap or seemingly overpriced; sorry, but I’m not paying $750 for a 40 year old 49cc Suzuki. Whilst not my ideal bike by any stretch of the imagination, this one seemed to hit all the high points and it'll probably sell pretty quickly.

I have a friend who has a 750 Shadow of this era, it’s... an interesting experience. At 6'0" I feel very cramped in the cock pit. It sit s very low to the ground, and lean angle is basically nothing. Handling is best described as optimistic. The vibrations the engine makes render the mirrors useless at any speed. But the sound of that V-twin revving to 8,000 rpm is glorious and I’ve wanted one of these ever since, I’d change basically everything about it, but for that engine along it would be worth it.

I had an ‘86 Shadow 1100 many moons ago. Very comfy ride for a 6' dude like me. Didn’t have the power of my earlier V65 Magna but it was more than adequate. Kinda wish I had it now.

Heck, right now I wouldn’t even mind having my old XS400...

Kinda wish I would have fixed the broken carbs instead of abandoning it...

If the engine is vibrating that much I’d guess one of the motor mounts is loose. My Shadow 1100 from way back ran pretty smoothly (for a v-twin) and I never had a problem with mirrors.

I have always ridden standards and sport bikes, the only cruiser I’ve ever ridden was when my buddy decided to pick up a 500 Shadow similar to the one pictured and I had to teach him how to ride it. Well of course I needed to ride it first because I’d never been on a cruiser and I wanted to know what it felt like compared to my bikes . It was nice and comfy compared to the rockets I was used to , like going for a ride on your laz-e- boy recliner. At 5'9 it was what I’d call cozy. Not too small, but I don’t think I’d have wanted to be much taller.

I had that motor in and out of the frame a hand full of times, it did the same thing both before and after I played with it. In general it’s a smooth motor, but it created just the right harmonic that the mirrors were useless because they vibrated so bad.

Interesting. I’ve only experienced that mirror shaking issue on a HD softail.

It did seem odd to me too, and funnily enough, my 883 Sportster (rubber mounted engine) was super smooth at most speeds. ¯\_()_/¯
